The Future Isn't So Far Away

I remember being a kid like it was yesterday. What it felt like to rub that spot with your tongue where your tooth used to be, being picked on by my brothers, kissing a boy on the bus all that fun stuff. I certainly remember what it was like being a teenager (never want to do that again) and trying to figure who I was and where I am going to fit in in this world (still figuring that out). I try to live everyday in the present, not ahead or in the past. Don't get me wrong I like to reminisce and think about the future but I don't like to dwell on it. What I'm getting at is when I was a kid I remember thinking how awesome life was going to be when I was independent, done with school and on with my life. I've noticed so far, it isn't what I chalked it up to be.

Recently, I've been really really really wanting to go on vacation. Growing up I was fortunate enough to go on many vacations and experience a lot of different places. Now that I am old enough to afford my own (well sort of) I can't plan that far into the future to book one! There a so many unknowns in my life right now it could drive a person crazy. A lot have to do with my boyfriend. I graduated and have a job. My life after college has unfortunately started. He on the other hand has no clue what is going to happen even just 2 weeks from now.

Like I said before he had an interview with GM, still waiting to hear back, and that could mean a whole lot of changes. If he doesn't hear back from GM he will continue with school. If he continues with school that means he has to finish this semester, take one class during the summer and then start applying to accelerated nursing program. The nursing program if you don't know already is one year of non-stop schooling. They are advised not to work and basically all you do is study. There are a few schools in the area that he would have a choice from but his best bet is 45 mins from his house, I'm already 40 mins from there making my drive even longer.

Not being at the same point in our lives has definitely made things more difficult but I don't need a vacation or to spend the money at the moment. I just want to. I guess it will make it that much better when we finally do get to go. Oh yeah! Groupon is awesome!

I've been wanting to get my PADI certification for scuba for years now but I've never been able to afford it. My mom was going to get it for me for my birthday/Christmas last year but it comes out around $400 and I didn't like the times they offered for their classes. Groupon, for the first time that I have ever witnessed, is offering class for certification for $100, you still have to pay for the certification on your own but it's a damn good deal. And I can go Friday, Saturday and Sunday and get the classes done. So my mom purchased it for me for my birthday (a little early, yes I know) and I bought one for Josh. This is my only "want" purchase but it was definitely worth breaking my streak for! I'm really excited about it. :D
