Student Loans Update

It's the beginning of the month and that means checking my loans to see where I stand with them. My main goal this year is to get my smallest loan paid off as quick as I can. I've been making good progress on my credit cards and I have a few of them paid off and the others are finally coming down. I finally feel like I'm starting to make a dent! Here is the update for the past month.

   Monthly payment amount

Student loan 1   7,830.69                                    20.00
Student loan 2   32,150.41                                  346.08
Student loan 3   11,595.88                                  25.00
Student loan 4   10,044.78                                  110.00

The rest

Student loan 5    2,197.50                                  350.00
Student loan 6    7,274.05                                  90.00

Total student loans: $71,093.31 and the month total is $842.08.

And the credit cards:

Credit Card 1: paid off!
Credit Card 2: 433.33
Credit Card 3: 100.11

I have been working on using cash more and sticking to what I have. Once it's gone, it's gone. I need to get better at it but I have also been trying a new route as well. I have been adding a certain amount to my savings every month and keeping the rest in my checking to use. I usually take out around $150-$200. I do get my gas from Sam's Club and I have to use a credit/debit card for that.

I a lot of the money from my tax return to pay for my bills and as you can see I paid extra on my own loan as well and it is almost under $2,000 and I'm really excited! I know most people would work on paying off the biggest loan but my goal since it is the smallest to get it paid off and then use what I would've been paying monthly on there and add it to the loan with the highest interest rate. Of all of my loans it has the third highest interest rate so it isn't going to waste. I also made a plan to pay off my loans by mid April and then I can start paying more on my loans every month instead of always making extra payments on my loans. Here's to finally making progress!

  1. Paying back my student loans is seriously going to be the death of me!! I got enough back on my taxes to pay off one of my CC and it was the biggest relief ever!

    1. It's not fun at all. I'm the kind of person that just wants to be done and over with it. The amount of time it takes to pay them off is most difficult. I've found a couple of blogs that have given me some budgeting ideas, but I haven't implemented them yet. I want to pay off my CC's first . I feel your pain!
