This weekend was absolutely fantastic! I got to spend a wonderful weekend with my boyfriend and his family for his birthday.
We stopped at the mall and along the way I snagged a pretty fantastic find. My job is pretty casual so I typically don't have to worry about dressy clothes but since I have a few shoes coming up I snatched the dress. It was normally a $90 dress. It was on sale at $64.99. Since the Loft was having a sale I got an additional 50% off on the dress! So not only was the dress a great price but I also had a $25 gift card for the Loft and only ended up paying about $8 for the dress! The dress is tighter on top and flowy on the bottom. Because I got such a great price for the dress I also found a nice sweater for the cold office.
I have been the process of changing my wardrobe over to a more young adult look with an actual style. I've never been very good at the whole fashion thing. I was always in sports and never actually had to worry about wearing normal clothing, or at least I didn't care to. I mainly wore sweatpants, spandex shorts (typical volleyball wear) and a t-shirt. If it was during the winter I wore a hoodie. Majority of my wardrobe consisted of jeans, sweatpants, hoodies and a few normal t-shirts when I was in high school and well most of college.
I noticed when I went away to school I should probably start to buy some more appropriate clothing and once I joined a sorority I didn't have much choice. My sorority was more laid back then most but whenever we had a formal meeting we had to dress up. When we had a formal meeting it usually meant we were meeting with someone outside of our house, whether it was an advisor, mentor, or a regular guest.
For most of my years at Albion I would borrow my roommates clothes when we would go out because they would help me pick out an outfit and it would always look better than what I had in my closet. I grew up with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. 1 of my sisters is autistic and the other was more boyish, wearing baggy clothes, short haircuts and sweaters from the men's department. So, I didn't really figure out that clothing could make you feel good about yourself until I got much older. I also never understood the whole makeup thing (and honestly I still generally only wear mascara and eyeliner and on occasion I'll wear cover-up).
During our trip to the mall I fell in LOVE with a pair of shoes.
They are definitely out of my price range but who knows. Maybe by saving the 5's I'll be able to save up for them in no time :). It would be nice to have a comfortable pair of nice heels to wear to shows and work.

The remainder of January is going to be crazy busy. I have a meeting for Lia Sophia on Monday, shadowing a show on Tuesday, breather on Wednesday, first ever Lia Sophia show on Thursday, dinner with a friend from school on Friday and my second Lia Sophia show on Saturday. Then the week after that I leave Monday for Florida (work) until Thursday and the last week of January I leave Sunday till the 31st for Vegas (work). It's going to be a busy month but I still hope to blog as much as I can. I've been learning a lot about blogging and hopefully I can start making some minor changes and keeping my blog updated during the month. I've got a pretty decent table to start off with. My wonderful mother has also lent me her Lia Sophia jewelry to add to my table for my first few shows.
