I recently graduated college from a very expensive school. Unfortunately, because I wanted to attend this school, get out of my house, experience life as a college student I am now living back home with my parents like a kid again. I am very grateful my parents have taken me in and am able to work and pay off my debts without acquiring more debt by living on my own.
A friend from college showed me a blog by a girl we went to school with about her journey's with student debts. Her goals are very realistic and she has a great plan. So she has inspired me to do the same thing with my blog. I am transforming it to how I will be paying off my debts and getting out on my own into the real world. This is going to be a struggle so follow along with me and see if I can do it.
Unlike the other blogger I don't make as much money as her. Sad, I know. Currently, my annual salary is $27,000/year and after taxes it comes out to something more like $20,900/year. I make roughly $870/paycheck or 1740.00/month
Here is what I owe for my loans:
Monthly payment amount
Student loan 1 7,754. 09 15.92
Student loan 2 32,778. 11 (ouch!) 350.00
Student loan 3 11,564.65 23.94
Student loan 4 10, 124. 61 106.70
oh wait there's still more!!!
Student loan 5 2,763.16 40.00
Student loan 6 7,497.89 90.00
Making my grand total of current student debt: $72,482.51 and my monthly total to $586.56.
Now that is a number I never want to see again unless it is for a house. Because I want to pay off my debts as quick as I can I also want to have my credit cards paid off ASAP as well.
Currently I have 2 credit cards with a balance...
Credit Card 1 $100.00
Credit Card 2 $1,012.85 (don't worry I'm not a shopping addict this card doubles as my work card and I have a few flights booked for the next 2 months. I get reimbursed for my travels. There are some personal purchases on the card, it is the holidays after all.)
Some of my loans I have already increased the amount on to round up the number. I can be kind of OCD.
I know it says I make roughly 1,700/month but I swear I have no idea where it goes!! I guess we will start to find out.
